The Passive on Timber House

thumb_G100_1024.jpg

Newly built in 03, the Passive on Timber House is an example of high performance construction techniques taken to the extreme. This two story hybrid timber frame incorporates a stout eastern white pine frame enclosed by a stick built “Klingenberg wall” composed of an insulated 2x6 studwall, rigid air barrier,  and a 12” vertical TJI insulation layer. Top of the line triple pane windows paired with this impressive structural build out, results in a house that exceeds passive house standards; while maintaining a traditional aesthetic appropriate to Belfast ME.
